Wilson Mountain is right off 128/93–it couldn’t be easier to find. This DCR property is a great alternative to Blue Hills, as it is far less busy and every bit as beautiful (although the summit is far less dramatic). Kids and adults alike will enjoy the variety of the terrain. There are plenty of beautiful trees, gigantic boulders, steep hills, stinky swamps, wooden bridges, tiny waterfalls, and bubbling brooks. This trail has something for everyone–it’s one we can’t believe we didn’t discover sooner!

TRAIL DESCRIPTION & MAP

From the parking lot, we went straight and followed the 1.8 mile blue blaze trail in a clockwise loop around the property. At marker #24 we deviated off the blue trail to the red trail for a bit to find a geocache and explore the summit.

P.I.N.T. SCORE
Rated on a scale of 1 (difficult/not good) to 5 (easy/awesome!)
P – Parking & Access – 3 (small lot that fits about 10 cars at most. Lot is often full.)
I – Interest Level – 3 (a fairly standard trail, but there are lots of fun natural things to discover.)
N – Navigation – 3 (well-marked trails, but you do need to pay attention, as there are some spots where you have to stop and search for the blue blazes.)
T – Terrain – 2 (sometimes steep terrain, rocks and roots sticking up out of trail, boardwalks over wet areas.)

Photos
Along the trail we saw a beautiful forest, fun rocks to climb, “cliffs” to stand on the edge of, and funny looking spots to explore! We found a geocache complete by accident along the red blaze trail, and the kids even did the limbo with a tree branch. You never know what you’ll find in the woods!

After the hike…
We headed to Trillium Brewing in Canton, at the base of the Blue Hills for lunch. It’s just 10 minutes away and completely family friendly (no dogs, though!). They have a huge outdoor area for seating and for kids to run around, amazing wood-fired pizza, pretzels, and, of course, BEER!

Great job South Shore Family Adventures. It was great to see the trail and the family. You all are quite talented! Bring us more places!!!
